With a rumble echoing across the region, the volcanic plug domes walls began to slide in what must have been a tremendous sight three hundred years ago. Although, anyone standing in view would have been pulverized by the millions of tons of stone hurtling towards them. Traveling at a hundred miles per hour, the debris was likely carried on a cushion of compressed air, lubricating it’s decent, allowing it to spread out over two miles and climb four hundred feet up the far side of the valley.
