Driving through the wide bowl of Cades Cove valley, you’re surrounded by the gently rolling foothills of the Smoky Mountains. The often slow moving, one lane loop road gives plenty of opportunity to enjoy the scenery and wildlife. On my first pass around the loop, I took note of this perfect golden tree on the far side of the field but the sun was still too high in the sky. On the second time around, the sun had set enough to provide a nice highlight on the orange-yellow leafed ridges in the distance.
