Accessing Zion National Park through the eastern entrance, you will be greeted by the incredible Checkerboard Mesa, one of the tallest sandstone cliffs in the world. Continuing along Zion-Mount Caramel Highway into the main canyon you’ll be twisting through a Candyland-like layer cake of unusual cross-bedding, colorful striations and fascinating geological features etched into the white Navajo Sandstone.
