For a desert region it’s amazing how much of the landscape is shaped by water. At the edge of Little Spring Canyon in Canyonlands National Park, some recently filled ephemeral pools dot the white rim rock. Much of the hardened geologic surfaces act as a giant funnel which drains down into the Colorado River. As the floods and washes pick up debris, they also carve out intricate mazes of gullies and canyons in the process.
