An exploration of color on a dreary and foggy day in Acadia National Park. Interestingly, Maritime Sunburst Lichen prefers growing on bark or wood and is less likely to be found on stone surfaces. However, in the presence of bird droppings or high nitrate content, the lichen will grow on rocks with the added nutrient enrichment.
