The semi-translucent prickly spines of the Saguaro cacti glow in the late afternoon sun. Many native birds such as woodpeckers, martins, finches, flickers, and elf owls make nests out of holes in the large cactus. It’s not uncommon to have a variety of creatures living at different heights of the growth – almost like an apartment high-rise in the desert.
