Initially I had spent several days attempting to capture this point at sunrise. Two of those days were overcast and on the third day I manage to get a perfect alignment of the breakwater and the sun’s red glow. (You can see those two versions on my website and in-gallery titled: Sunny Side Up and Tidal) However, this image represents the middle of that process. In some ways I appreciate this one the most because it’s the anticipation and waiting for the final moment. You can see the sky aglow in a soft pinks and periwinkle from the summer haze, while the earth’s shadow appears just above the horizon. I believe that’s how you know it’s going to be a good day.
